WEDDING GUEST OUTFIT – 1 DRESS 2 WAYS

I haven’t attended a wedding in many years although I’ve been bridesmaid 4 times & even the “best man” once. However that was way back in my twenties, I guess I’ll be catching the second timers soon? That’s cheeky…

Though a very dear friend of mine did get married a couple of weeks ago – In Hawaii!!!
I know awesome right?
We couldn’t go unfortunately yet it really wasn’t an issue for her either. You see Skye & Simon are in their 40’s & have been together for over 10 years. They have a gorgeous son, thriving business & frankly a menagerie of animals on their sprawling property. Therefore it was a completely different place that they were coming from when they decided to tie the knot. I mean that knot was already tied.
Their wedding was for them. It was on a beach with only their immediate family & it was stress free. The photos were stunning, they looked breathtaking in all white & the 3 of them had the time of their lives. It got me thinking if I were a wedding guest now what would I wear?

There’s a fabulous new online retailer called Lux-Fix, have you heard of them?

They asked if I’d like to collaborate on a blog post & when I saw their Nancy Mac dresses I thought – YES!

Perfect wedding guest outfit.

I chose this particular dress because of the feminine cut & silky drape but also because of the colour. I mean how amazing is this GREEN? After the wedding you want to be able to wear the dress again & again don’t you?
This is that dress.

1 fabulous dress 2 ways

Personally I prefer the stronger look of black knee-high boots & black over-sized clutch yet pairing nude accessories gives it a romantic, weddingy (I know bear with me) vibe.
Either way Nancy Mac is HOT HOT HOT.

Have a look at the collection, I defy you not to fall head over heels in love. Swoon
Now if the Ted & Muffy boots don’t rock your world nor the Melissa moulded rubber sandals fulfill your hearts desire, fear not! I have another idea…
Next time wearing this fabulous tea dress I shall style with TANGERINE.

Platform pumps vs flat sandals. You can take a peek at the pumps here. I haven’t worn my Prada flat sandals in a post yet so I’m looking forward to giving them a run on RCM. I think they’re about 8 years old but last Summer I let them rest. Sometimes you just need a break from each other you know?

Tell me which is your favourite look? Have you been to a wedding lately & if so what did you wear? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

See you next week, Mx

I’ve worn it many times too Greetje. It’s surprisingly versitile, I’m going to try pairing it with an oversized knit for Winter & see how that works xxx

Looking lovely Michelle – As you say I don’t think you’d need to save this for a wedding but then I do love a dress. I hadn’t heard of LuxFix before this post so thank you for the tip off x

Wow, that dress looks amazing on you Michelle! The way it falls, the fit, the colour – you nailed it girl! I actually prefer the black boots to the nude shoes, which is weird because I thought it would be the other way around. Great to see one dress working hard 🙂

That is surprising Michelle, I also thought you’d prefer the sandals. Actually I’ve been completely blown away by the over whelming majority going for the boots! I was sure nobody would like this look. Just goes to show you never know what you might wear until you give it a try.

Green!!! I love the dress, Michelle!
I haven’t been to a wedding in ages – seems everybody gets divorced at my age 😉 but I’d find lots of occasions to wear it…
Love both versions, the classic with sandals as well as the more edgy one with your fabulous boots!

I can’t get enough of this dress, Michelle! It’s gorgeous. I, too, prefer it with the black boots and bag, but it is great to have a piece that you can wear in more than one way. Looking forward to seeing look number 3 xx

I SO love your dress! I have a similar silk skirt in green with the same floating A-line shape and it has been my favourite for ages. I even wore it to my girl’s baptism some 10 years ago 🙂 You look absolutely gorgeous in yours and I love your clutch too! xx Abby

Oh how special that is Abby. I love it when a dress encompasses a beautiful memory, makes it more special. I imagine I’ll also be wearing mine for many years to come, the style certainly is timeless.

Oh Michelle, such a gorgeous dress. The detail is so pretty, especially on the sleeves. I love the nod to the 1940s and think you could definitely style it differently throughout the year. I like it with the nude sandals (but that’s because I’m an old romantic) xxx

I love this dress Michelle! The color, the fabric, the style are beautiful. How nice to see it styled with the black boots too – so unexpected, but so fabulous. I’m going to a wedding in the beginning of June and you have inspired me to start looking for the perfect dress.

    Reasons to Dress (@reasonstodress)

Another absolutely perfect look and I love those boots. And can we just talk about how no one gets married anymore!!! Why is that? I have so many dresses I could wear and yet no occasion!

      retrochicmama

Perhaps weddings have gone out of fashion Angie? When Mark & I got married we spent about 50p on the wedding because we were saving to buy a house. Weddings are lovely although you do have to part with some serious DeNiros 😉

WOW, Michelle. What a beautiful dress on you. That colour of green is amazing (Annette will love it) and the print is stunning, not overly floral and girly. I love the buttoned gathered sleeve detail, and the very vintage looking neckline and bodice too. What a lovely find. It suits you beautifully. Despite being a strong design statement, I can see this styled so many ways; I’d can see it with an oversize chunky cream grandpa cardigan in the winter (or today given how chilly it is!). Gorgeous photographs, as always. xxx

      retrochicmama

Thank you Lisa I really appreciate your input, actually hadn’t thought about the chunky knit but you’re so right! What about flat tan boots too? This dress is such a winner, endless outfit ideas. You should check out the other Nancy Mac dresses she does sparkles you know 😉
Btw Annette was all over the colour earlier on IG hahahaha.

    Rozanne Swift

What a delectable dress, you look stunning. The drape and colour are sigh-worthy! I agree with you on the black boots and clutch look, very much my favourite. It just works so well, giving the dress a sassy edge. I’ve not been to a wedding in nearly a decade but I would sooo love the opportunity to go to one, if only to purge myself of the style mistakes I made back in the day (bright fuchsia silk dress, I’m thinking of you… Alas made me look like a lollipop with the flu….) xx

    • avatar
      retrochicmama

Awesome Rozanne you like the black too! I honestly thought nobody would, the nude is a safer option isn’t it 😉
You & I will be dangerous teeheehee xxx
